Message from the President
Sadly 12.6 million Americans were the victims of identity theft in 2012 according to Javelin Strategy & Research. The study found there was a victim every 3 seconds and fraudsters stole more than $21 billion. The good news, if there is any, is that companies are responding more quickly which means customer information is misused for fewer days. But make no mistake, these criminals are not rookies or pranksters next door, they are well-coordinated, experienced and sophisticated international crooks who make their living by stealing your identity and money. To help fight the identity theft battle, Guaranty Bank & Trust customers now have a new tool to monitor their accounts Theftsmart®.
